GCA Admission Policies & Procedures

7th Grade

Each incoming 7th grader will be admitted or waitlisted on a date designated by administration. A lottery system will be utilized, if necessary, based on the following priorities:

Siblings of students currently attending the non-boundary school.
Children of current school employees, with a cap of 20% (including children who are a sibling of another enrolled student).
Children residing within Gilbert Public Schools' boundaries and out-of-district residents attending a Gilbert Public School.
Children that are nonresidents of Gilbert Public Schools and are not attending a Gilbert Public School. After the lottery for incoming 7th graders is held, new applicants and those in grades 8th through 10th will be placed on the waitlist in order of the receipt of the application.

Admission Criteria

At both the elementary and secondary levels, the physical capacity of the school building and classrooms; availability of staff; capacity in special programs; and availability of other resources may be considered before placement of a student into a district-wide program or school is approved.

Gilbert Classical Academy has no admissions standards for 7th or 8th grade; however, students may be required to do summer school work in order to prepare them for the rigors of the academics of the Academy.

9th Grade

Students entering the Academy for the 9th grade must have completed Algebra 1 in the 8th grade. An official transcript/report card must be submitted at the time of enrollment.

10th & 11th Grade

The applicant's high school transcript must be submitted for review to ensure that the student will meet GCA's graduation requirements by their senior year.

Completion of online applications or acceptance of an offer of enrollment does not constitute actual enrollment. Parents must complete registration in the spring to be enrolled in the school. Failure to submit the enrollment paperwork by the school's deadline will result in the non-enrollment of the student.

Thursday, November 6^th – GCA Informational Meeting, 6:30 – 8:00pm in the GCA Cafeteria. (Optional Event)

Our Principal, Dr. Hood, will give a presentation and answer any questions about the Academy detailing our curriculum, athletics, clubs, mission and vision, along with information on the enrollment process. There will be GCA Student Ambassadors and Staff members also available to give their recounts about their experience & answer questions about what it means to be a GCA Spartan!

19th Annual Winterfest – Saturday, December 6th starting at 11AM until 4PM at GCA. (Optional Event)

This is our GCA music fundraiser for the year, open to the public. Come enjoy live festive performances from our music courses playing throughout the day: Band, Choir, Orchestra, Guitar, and Jazz Band. Game booths are sponsored by the numerous GCA clubs, so be sure to come support our students! Snacks will be available and freshly cooked food, like Cheeseburgers or Veggie Burgers, will be served by our very own principal, Dr. Hood. Come say "hi!" All proceeds benefit the GCA music department and student clubs.

Level Up Day – Thursday, January 27th from 9AM - 12PM. (Optional Event)

An optional event where prospective 6th grade students only will be able to shadow our amazing GCA Student Ambassadors during the school day to experience classes for multiple grade levels, complete fun activities- like our school-wide scavenger hunt, and have the opportunity to learn about the GCA experience from our current students and teachers! To end the event, we provide a free lunch from our wonderful GCA Cafeteria as our incoming 7th grade students join their future classmates during junior high lunch! An RSVP will be sent out as we get closer to the date.

2026/27 GCA Application Open Enrollment Deadline – Friday, January 30th.

Applications are accepted year round. However, applying and being accepted during the Open Enrollment time period will secure your student’s place at GCA. After January 30th, acceptance will be based on a first-come basis on available seats.

Course Registration Begins - Month of February.

Ms. Samantha Levy, the GCA Registrar, will begin course registration via email. Please be sure to check your emails to confirm core courses and select your student’s elective choices. Core Courses may be subjected to align with accelerated mathematics placement, and/or meet GCA graduation requirements.
