GCA Admission Policies & Procedures

7th Grade

Each incoming 7th grader will be admitted or waitlisted on a date designated by administration. A lottery system will be utilized, if necessary, based on the following priorities:

Siblings of students currently attending the non-boundary school.
Children of current school employees, with a cap of 20% (including children who are a sibling of another enrolled student).
Children residing within Gilbert Public Schools' boundaries and out-of-district residents attending a Gilbert Public School.
Children that are nonresidents of Gilbert Public Schools and are not attending a Gilbert Public School. After the lottery for incoming 7th graders is held, new applicants and those in grades 8th through 10th will be placed on the waitlist in order of the receipt of the application.

Admission Criteria

At both the elementary and secondary levels, the physical capacity of the school building and classrooms; availability of staff; capacity in special programs; and availability of other resources may be considered before placement of a student into a district-wide program or school is approved.

Gilbert Classical Academy has no admissions standards for 7th or 8th grade; however, students may be required to do summer school work in order to prepare them for the rigors of the academics of the Academy.

9th Grade

Students entering the Academy for the 9th grade must have completed Algebra 1 in the 8th grade. An official transcript/report card must be submitted at the time of enrollment.

10th & 11th Grade

The applicant's high school transcript must be submitted for review to ensure that the student will meet GCA's graduation requirements by their senior year.

Completion of online applications or acceptance of an offer of enrollment does not constitute actual enrollment. Parents must complete registration in the spring to be enrolled in the school. Failure to submit the enrollment paperwork by the school's deadline will result in the non-enrollment of the student.

Monday, October 18^th – 2026/27 Open Enrollment Applications Open

Applications are accepted year-round, however applying and being accepted during the Open Enrollment period, October through January, will secure your student’s spot at GCA. Outside the Open Enrollment period, acceptance will be made on available seats & first-come basis. To secure your students seat for next year, it is encouraged to select GCA as your choice school no later than the end of February.

Tuesday, October 19th – 2026/27 Tour Requests Open

Schedule a tour online through our website by appointment to see our GCA campus during the school day. Get the inside scoop about GCA’s school culture, opportunities, and expectations. Please schedule a tour if you are considering enrolling for the next school year (7-12 grades); GCA evolves for the better each school year, so current 4th or 5th graders are encouraged to tour GCA in 6th grade to provide the most accurate information for the enrolling school year.

November (Exact Date TBA) – GCA Informational Meeting, 6 – 7:30pm in the GCA Cafeteria

Our Principal, Mrs. Torbert, will give a presentation and answer any questions about the Academy detailing our curriculum, athletics, clubs, mission and vision, along with information on the enrollment process. There will be Student Ambassadors available to give their recounts about their experience & what it means to be a GCA Spartan!

Tuesday, January 26th (TENTATIVE Date) - incoming 7th grade Level Up Day, from 9AM - 12PM (Optional Event)

An optional event where prospective 6th grade students only will be able to shadow our amazing GCA Student Ambassadors during the school day to experience classes for multiple grade levels, complete fun activities- like our school-wide scavenger hunt, and have the opportunity to learn about the GCA experience from our current teachers and students alike! To end the event, we provide a free lunch from our wonderful GCA Cafeteria as our incoming 7th grade students join their future classmates during junior high lunch!

**RSVP Required** GCA RSVP will be sent out via email to accepted families of incoming 7th grade students and distributed to 6th grade GPS Teachers, sometime around January 6th.

Month of February 2027 - Course Registration Begins

Ms. Samantha Levy, the GCA Registrar, will begin course registration via email. Please be sure to check your emails to confirm core courses and select your student’s elective choices. Core Courses may be subjected to align with accelerated mathematics placement, and/or meet GCA graduation requirements.

Tuesday, February 2th - Family Preview Night, from 6PM - 7:30PM at the GCA Campus (Optional Event)

Open to all families interested in checking out Gilbert Classical Academy for the 2026/27 school year! Families will be able to walk around our wonderful GCA campus on an interactive tour to meet teachers, staff, and students, alike! Get ready to learn about our College Prep curriculum and student achievements, the numerous clubs and sport offerings for both JH and HS, and the impact our students have made on our very own community! Any parent or student who wants to revisit a station can do so at the end of the tour.
